Who’s Who of Longines Global Champions Tour of Miami Beach

Who’s Who of Longines Global Champions Tour of Miami Beach

Final preparations are underway to welcome horses and riders back to the sun-soaked shore of Miami Beach. As we count down to the next stage of the Longines Global Champions Tour, we look back on the memorable moments that have unfolded on this iconic stage and shine a spotlight on the LGCT Miami Beach Hall of Fame.

Let’s start right at the beginning when the Longines Global Champions Tour Grand Prix of Miami Beach launched back in 2015. The mighty Scott Brash and Hello Sanctos claimed top spot after an adrenaline fueled jump-off saw the shores light up for the first time ever!

2016 was one to remember as Edwina Tops-Alexander kick started her campaign to try and win her third overall season Championship after an epic showdown in Miami Beach to take the win onboard Lintea Tequila. While it was the notoriously rapid Belgium rider Jerome Guery and Gran Cru van de Rozenberg who stormed to victory by less than half a second in 2017.

The Queen of Miami Beach was back on top in 2018 as Edwina Tops-Alexander secured her second win in a LGCT Grand Prix of Miami Beach this time with the famous mare California. 2019 saw the winners trophy being handed back to Belgium as Pieter Devos and Clarie Z dominated in front of the US crowds. After a short break away from Miami Beach due to Covid-19 restrictions in 2022, we welcomed back top riders from around the world for a weekend of top sport and entertainment. It was Germany’s Katrin Eckermann who stole the show, riding her exceptional horse, Cala Mandia, to victory in the LGCT Grand Prix. Eckermann’s flawless performance on board the 9 year old showcased their raw talent in the small and challenging arena.

In 2023, it was a victory for the ages as Katrin Eckermann made history and clinched back to back LGCT Grand Prix of Miami Beach wins on Cala Mandia.

As we eagerly anticipate the next installment of the Longines Global Champions Tour in Miami Beach, one thing is certain – the stage is set for another thrilling showcase of world-class show jumping. Can Katrin Eckermann defend her title and secure a third straight LGCT Miami Beach win or will a new victor be crowned in 2024?
